Dr. Kevin Petti Receives Inaugural Vesalius Health Humanities Prize
Dr. Kevin Petti, founder of Anatomia Italiana, has been awarded the inaugural 2026 Vesalius Health Humanities Prize at the 5th Vesalius Continuum, convened at the University of Antwerp in Belgium.
The prize recognizes outstanding contributions to the health humanities, particularly scholarship that explores the intersections of anatomy, art, the history of medicine, and the cultural representation of the human body.
Named in honor of Andreas Vesalius (1514–1564), the pioneering anatomist whose landmark tome On the Fabric of the Human Body transformed the study of human anatomy and modern medical science, the award celebrates scholarship that expands our understanding of the human body through scientific and humanistic perspectives.
Dr. Petti's work with Anatomia Italiana brings these worlds together, examining anatomy not only as a scientific discipline, but also as a subject shaped by art, history, and culture.
